It might have escaped your attention, but it's been bloody snowing for weeks now. But spare a thought for the press photographer with the unenviable task that is the 'weather picture'.

Thankfully we're through the dog walker/cute animal/snowman building stage and on to the snow's other tenuous links to that thing we call 'news'.

So I've brought to you a round up of my snow related pictures from the last few days at the Scotsman and Evening News.

First we have the Black Watch Museum's photocall on their new tartan, and instead of the model standing lemon-like in 18 inches of snow it only seemed right to bring some much needed spontaneity into the shot.

One of the unintended victims of the snow is none other than the former British stunt unicycling champion. Jason Auld needs a snow-less practice area if you happen to own a well kept tennis court. Despite his predicament he showed why he's a champion by leaping off snow covered ledges for me again and again (never believe a snapper that says, 'Just one more'!) and then finally had the good grace to race a five-year-old on her sledge.

Finally one Edinburgh primary school has shown some ingenuity with the snow and turned it into a building project. Juniper Green now has several igloos dotting its perimeter and faced with contriving a photo it only seemed right to reference the iconic image by Joe Rosenthal, "Raising the flag on Iwo Jima".
